BUiLT – 2024 TEC Impact Fund Grantee

Today, March 12, 2024, the Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund announced its 2024 grantees to include Blacks United in Leading Technology International. https://www.techequitycollective.com/impact-fund/

The Tech Equity Collective, a Google initiative, envisions a future where more Black tech professionals are designing products and leading innovation in tech. A future where Black people are thriving in a tech ecosystem that inspires them to develop better solutions and services that achieve better outcomes for all. And a future where Black people are building fulfilling, lucrative, and impactful careers in tech.

“The Tech Equity Collective goal to double the number of Black+ developers in tech, by 2030 supports our mission to achieve racial equity in tech for Black people by 2023, #14in2030,” says Peter Beasley, BUiLT Chairman and Co-Founder. “We are thrilled to be selected amongst the other 19 great grantees who are all working to help achieve racial equality in tech.”

Tech Equity Collective accelerates Black innovation working alongside community and industry partners to unlock opportunities for aspiring Black professionals in tech. Impact Fund grantees will receive a $50,000 grant, access to expert-led workshops, and connection to a robust network of industry experts.

“Our unique focus at BUiLT embraces those Black technologists who recently lost their jobs in tech through no fault of their own. And equally important to us are those Black professionals already in tech, and we want them to have the best advances to stay there. Too often, Blacks are the last hired and first fired. With this grant, and with support of others, we will provide resources, training, and certifications for Black people to quickly get back in tech, and for those who are in, to keep their jobs,” says Beasley.

Blacks United in Leading Technology serves its 16,000 members on the Meetup.com platform across its 28 volunteer-led chapters with the mission to increase the representation and participation of Black people in tech.
