Be An Ally – Help Change the World

Meet John Kilpatrick

Hello … I’m a WiFi Technology Engineer

I’m a White man in tech, and I work in a specialized tech field where there are almost no Black people. There are hardly any women.

Without needing to know all the reasons why Black people don’t have access to this career field, I wanted to do something. I am not a high net worth individual, but I give $3,500 every six months for Blacks United in Leading Technology for technology scholarships to include more Black people in tech.

I’m doing my part to help society

Thank you John! I attended your orientation session about being a Certified Wireless Network Administrator and received your scholarship. I passed the certification test too!

All my life, I knew it was important to get an education and the best option for me with was with a marketing degree. Here in Louisiana as a child, I wasn’t exposed to having technology as a career field for me.

I’m now a junior SAP analyst, and I want and seek opportunities for me and my community to get future-proof careers in tech. And its through good people like you that the opportunity I hope for can become a reality.    Wykema Raymond

BUiLT is a public 501(c)3 nonprofit, and as such, we have a calling to educate the public. BUiLT is backed by corporate sponsors who insist on doing business with reputable social partners. With our dues structure, all our constituents buy-into and agree to Canons, a Code of Ethic, and to Bylaws.

Members have rights to vote on important business issues, they have access to financial information, and most importantly, their personal investments and the relationships they’ve created in BUiLT are protected and may not be taken away without due process. Our membership dues, sponsorships and donations help serve our local Chapters contribute to the conversation to end racial injustice in tech.

If you don’t want you join as a member, you can help through your donations. Funds allocated to local Chapters are used by local BUiLT leaders to deploy those resources in impactful ways, for those local communities. Fifty-percent (50%) of membership dues are allocated to the local chapter, as give-backs to their members (i.e. in recognition and awards banquets) or to help the local community.
