BUiLT Launches Employability Initiative to Maintain High-Paying Black Jobs Gains in Tech
BUiLT launched its employability initiative to retain and restore tech jobs for Black professionals. The initiative is a direct response to the challenges faced by Black technologists, who have been disproportionately affected by layoffs in the tech sector. In 2023 alone, the industry shed over 240,000 jobs, with Black professionals bearing an unequal portion of these losses. Too often, Blacks in tech are the last hired and first fired.
Scott MacFarlane from CBS News Emphasizes the Need for Inclusivity
At the DC Metro Black Tech Symposium on October 15, 2024, Scott provided his insightful message “as we sculpt a better second half of the 21st century we need to make sure all of the vital utilities in America have diversity, have all backgrounds represented, that we are leading a charge that is inclusive of everyone. What you’re doing this week, these three days, is so important and something that people from all walks of life can support.” He emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in technology and all that makes America great.

Together Let's Open the Doors
Technology is an enabler to every day life, but also for individual people and their communities. The wealth generated by lucrative careers in tech flows into the communities, churches, and children’s education for the people who are fortunate to get into and thrive in career fields like cybersecurity, data science, and software development.
For far too long the doors to get into, advance in, and lead and own technology enterprises have been closed to people with dark skin. Together, we can hold the doors open for everyone.
Support Diversity in Tech
Donations to BUiLT help us continue our efforts to improve the representation of Black people in tech. With your help we can offer support and services to get more people into the tech field, assist more people in advancing in tech, and aid Black tech entrepreneurs / start ups.
